Magic Words: how do you get others to do what you want them to

Have you noticed that some employees are able to persuade others to do their activities or take the highest priority to get served without lifting a little finger? Have you asked your self why this person is able to get any complex work done easily while having a wonderful relationship with everyone? If you have someone in your mind, there is a high possibility that this person is using many of the following magic words.

Yes

Using the word "Yes" would build a common ground for more agreements. While negotiating always keep in mind to start with a series of topics that you are certain that you can reach an agreement easily and say "Yes" to then start negotiating the more complex topics and you would be surprised how you could reach a painless agreement. Hence, the opposite party would feel that he has won enough and he has to give you something in return. I remember working with a colleague who is always having tuff arguments till he's able to get things done. After observing his behaviour, I found that he was starting most of his sentences with the word "No" so that drives the opposite parties to defend their point of view even though they can reach an agreement easily.

But

It's super important to start with the agreed points at the beginning. Starting your speech with the agreed discussion would be respected since you would give the feeling to the opposite party that you have understood their point of view and their concerns adding the "But" after your first sentence would urge others to understand your situation because you did agree with their perception in the first place.

Why... Because

Our brain is designed to seek justifications. Hence, it sounds very convincing if you hear a sentence that includes the word "Because" even if we provide a lousy explanation or justification. A great friend of mine uses "Why" and "Because" in his explanations and now I get why it's sound convincing and trustworthy anything is getting out of his mouth because he was giving justification to our brains. For example the sentence "I cut the rob because I have to cut the rob" sounds logical even there was no logical or adding value justification.

Request

Clarity is a key element to have a successful negotiation, start your negotiation by saying "can I make a request?" as easy as that. Then ask for whatever you want this clarity in the request would make it difficult to be rejected.

Suggestion

In the middle of any complicated discussion you can interfere by saying "May I make a suggestion" and that grabs the attention of everyone that you found an irresistible offer or solution that would end their pain. In addition, this sentence will make your opinion considerable in future arguments since you are able to take all perspectives into consideration and make a breakthrough with a suitable solution.

May I

"May I" is a polite way to interfere or ask for attention. If you used to attend a meeting where interrupting is very common and you want to complete your sentence, saying " May I continue ..." would give the advantage to get the respect to what are you going to say next.

Let's Break This Down Together

I believe in every issue can be solved if it broke down to smaller pieces. So always breakdown to breakthrough.  Therefore, saying "let's break this down together" would give the indication that we are working together as a team to figure something out. And this would make the agreement on smaller issues easier and eventually this would lead to bigger agreements.

Unpack

The word "Unpack" is a good indication that you are lestingig to others and interested in their opinion saying "could you unpack what you have in mind" or "could you unpack this for me" shows that you are super concerned about the opinion of others. Eventually, everyone wants to have future collaboration and discussion with you because you care about them and their perspectives.

Give Choices

One of the tactics to make others agree on your deal thinking that it's their idea is to give them options. The best situation is to get prepared with 3 choices, so they feel they are making a smart decision that makes them get more benefits than you do.

Explore

Saying "Let's explore the opportunity" is great to convince the opposite party with your vision. Because you made the future brighter and everyone is going to have many opportunities. And this would sack negativity and build team spirit.
